i am jo
I’m a creative director with extensive experience in digital as well as traditional design. I work across a broad range of brand categories, from large corporates to exciting start ups. Aside from design, I’m a keen crafter and maker in the process of setting up my own brand. I love food, travel, my husband Alexis & dappled Dachshund, Bailey. If you’d like to chat about a project, I’d love to hear from you.

past
I started out working as a designer at a printing company where I learned the fundamentals of old school processes, before leaping into the digital world, where I have spent the majority of my career.
My first digital role was as an in-house designer at CC Africa (later &Beyond). My next position was as designer and core member of digital start up, Clickthinking.
Clickthinking grew quickly from a small to much larger digital agency, specialising in various aspects of online marketing and design. As the agency grew, so did my skills, experience and opportunities. Clickthinking was later acquired by the Aegis group.
As Creative Director I built up a team of talented designers around me. Aside from my primary role as CD and designer, I gained invaluable experience in various disciplines, including strategy, technical work, project and account management.
Over the years I have been selected as a judge in both local and international awards.
Locally I was the first female member on the Loeries Digital Judging Panel. On an international level, I was one of the first two South African people selected to participate in first round judging in the 2009 and 2010 Webby Awards.
present
After eleven years at Clickthinking, I decided to embrace my craft, refresh my vision and go it alone. For the past six years I have been working as a Digital Creative Director assisting in the concept, creation and execution of various projects both big and small. Over the past 17 years I have worked on numerous large international brands including Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Nedbank, Coronation, Veritas Wealth Management, OpenServe, Mercedes-Benz and Angama Mara to name a few.
I have also been able to apply my skills to create bespoke digital solutions for smaller businesses as well as contributing to community based projects.
future
Enough of looking backwards – I am most excited about future projects and opportunities.
